Express Entry is an online application portal the Canadian government uses to manage applications for permanent residency by skilled workers. This portal hosts all three general economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. Applicants create an online profile, following which they are rated amongst each other through the Comprehensive Ranking System, which makes decisions based on parameters such as age, education, work experience, and language skills, after which the highest scorers are invited to apply for permanent residency during periodic invitation rounds.
